Latin Name: Achillea millefolium
Forestart Reference: ACHMIL

Flat heads of small white flowers, sometimes with a pink tinge, all summer and autumn.

Also known as Milfoil. This resilient perennial is found quite commonly on roadsides and in meadows. Very finely divided leaves are said to cause nosebleeds, but as a herb it was supposed to staunch blood flow from wounds. Deep roots mean that in times of drought, the plant still flowers and is hence a great source of nectar for bees and butterflies.
