We supply the seed to grow the trees of tomorrow, specialising in collecting native species from local seed sources and breaking inherent seed dormancy.
About the role
We are looking for a Stratification Assistant to support our Stratification Manager in overseeing tree seed stratification processes across two locations. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in seed management, working in both outdoor and laboratory settings. While no prior experience in seed stratification is required, a strong willingness to learn and a dedicated work ethic are essential.
As a Stratification Assistant, you will work closely with the Stratification Manager, assisting with all aspects of tree and shrub seed stratification at Forestart. You will play a key role in monitoring and evaluating the quality and progress of over 500 seed batches from around 90 species, each with unique stratification needs.
The role spans two sites: our primary location in Hadnall and our secondary site in Aston, Wem. You’ll be working in a variety of environments, including the yard, polytunnels, cold stores, and the seed testing laboratory.
