Description
Leontodon/Scorzoneroides autumnalis
Autumn Hawkbit is a perennial wildflower found in short grassland and meadows. It has yellow flowers like small dandelions, from June to autumn. They are usually about 2cm diameter. The flowers are held on fine stems of 10-15cm which are sometimes branched. The narrow, toothed leaves form low growing rosettes. It tolerates livestock nibbling it and grows on most soils except very chalky. It prefers sunny open spots and does better in moister conditions. Good for insects.
