Latin Name: Agrostemma githago
Forestart Reference: CORCOC

Beautiful, purple pink flowers in July on this attractive cornfield annual.

This slender annual wildflower was once a widespread weed of arable crops in the south and east, having been known since the Iron Age. Sow on bare soil in late summer, autumn or spring as a nurse crop for new perennial wildflower meadows to give some colour in the first year, or just for its own sake! To encourage Corncockle to persist from year to year, the soil needs to be cultivated in the autumn each year. Thrives on sandy loam in the sun.

Seed from Shropshire
