Latin Name: Narcissus pseudonarcissus/lobularis
Forestart Reference: WILDAF

This harbinger of spring needs no introduction. Dancing two tone yellow flowers brave the worst spring weather.

Also known as Daffydowndillies or Lenten Lily. Once widespread, but now in isolated patches round the country. Early flowers are seen in woodlands and edges, waysides, verges, old churchyards and undisturbed land. The paler outer petals shield the darker trumpets and the flower stems are quite short and sturdy. Flowering from seed takes between 5 and 7 years but is well worth the wait. The bulb and leaves are poisonous.
