Yellow flowers with prominent stamens, atop 50cm stems in early summer to early autumn.

A spreading shrubby type perennial, stemless leathery leaves grow up the stems and the flowers are produced on top. These are a good source of food for bees and hoverflies. Tiny oil sacs in the leaves produce the characteristic smell. A plant of open grassland and hedgerows. Research is still ongoing into it's uses medicinally. Best sown in autumn for spring germination, or placed in a bag on moist sand in the fridge for a while before sowing.
