Description

Geum arvensis

A perennial wildflower of damp shady places. The nodding flowers produced in May to September are a strange mix of purple/pink/dull orange, almost sepia. They are held above rosettes of rough leaves on purplish stems. Quite a subtle and understated plant! The long lasting seed heads that follow carry the burred seeds.

Not found very frequently in the wild.
Best sown in autumn or given a pre-chill in damp sand, in the fridge, of about 6 weeks.
