Latin Name: Glebionis(Chrysanthemum) segetum
Forestart Reference: CORMAR

Cheerful, bright yellow daisies growing just less than a metre tall.

Also know as Gold or Dunwich Buddle. Very bright annual wildflower. Yellow/gold flowers in the summer, 3-5cm diameter. Recovering from herbicide use, it is now found on rough road verges and field margins, favouring sandy well drained soil. It was seen as such a pest of crops that Henry II fined landowners who allowed it on their land! The tender shoots and young leaves can be used in salads or, as in Cyprus, fried in olive oil. Best sown in late summer or early spring, into prepared, light soil. Also present in the Annual Corn Flower seed mix.

Seed from Shropshire
