Latin Name: Filipendula ulmaria
Forestart Reference: MEASWE

Frothy cream flowers in July.

A perennial of damp places. Sweetly scented cream flowers produced in summer are full of nectar for bees and hoverflies. A good contestant for prettiest wildflower, often known as Queen of the Meadow, and favoured by Queen Elizabeth the First. Medicinally has the same uses as aspirin. Used to flavour Mead, beers and wines and as a 'strewing herb' on floors to scent rooms.

Best sown in autumn.
