Latin Name: Typha angustifolia
Forestart Reference: LSRREMAC

Graceful and elegant water plant

Also Lesser Bulrush, although this is botanically incorrect! An uncommon perennial of wet places and a neater grower than the more common Greater Reedmace, though prefers deeper water. Fine grass-like arching leaves and densely packed flowers up the 1.2 -2 metre flower stems. Male(pale yellow) and female(brown)flowers are separated by 5cm of bare stem. Pollination is by wind. Seed is produced in great fluffy bundles, to be distributed by wind. Offers protection for wildfowl and wetland birds
